Handbound hardback book
Sized 15 x 11 x 2 cm (A6)

Covered with natural white linen-cotton bookcloth and Mexican amate bark paper. Headbands sewn with coffee stained, off-white linen thread. Approx. 130 pages of gray-brown text weight recycled paper inside, works beautifully with pens, pencils and all dry media.

Amate paper is made from fig tree bark, thus the name -

The mythical Charybdis Fig Tree was situated above the whirlpool of Charybdis in the Strait of Messina, which connects Tyrrhenian Sea with the Ionian Sea in the central Mediterranean. Little is known of the tree itself, but much more about its sea monster called Charybdis, which was later recognised as a whirlpool caused by meeting currents.
